It was definitely a New York moment when I walked into the infamous leatherman Mitch Alfus’s loft, above La Esquina, to meet up with some friends. I was not expecting anything close to the world I entered. Whole animal skins head-on lay all around his floors, gorgeous Turkish rugs, original vintage metal aircraft government cases as seating around his enormous dining table, candle nests that would take 5 minutes to light, and a collection of baby fur vests from his own line were just a few of the things that caught my upon entering. It is one of those spaces in which you can discover new things as many times as you visit, a museum of inspiration.
